Headset underwhelms compared to non-gaming headsets

TLDR Background: I've been using the Logitech G35 headset since it was released in 2009. I thought this was a great headset but it has been discontinued. Kraken TE doesn't impress in the audio category. but it's pretty convenient. I heard a lot about "this headset was so awesome" so I dug into it and bought it. The Kraken Tournament Edition is actually pretty handy. It's not as heavy on my head as my old G35. The ear cushions are incredibly comfortable, even with prolonged use. Thumbs up for comfort. Nevertheless, you can hear the environment well. Don't expect this headset to block out room noise, noise and conversations. The microphone works quite well. No problem. I'm embarrassed to buy a gaming headset. I will look for the best Sennheiser or non-gaming headset. It doesn't matter if it's a gaming headset or not. The sound quality should still be good. Kraken lacks sound. and not only. It seems like all companies including Logitech, Steelseries and Corsair have switched to cheaper designs. and sound quality. I will say it. Out of the many other gaming headsets I've reviewed, the Kraken is better than most. I'm working with the Synapse software to see if I can get better audio. I'll update this review if I come up with something better. Update - I was able to get a slightly better sound using the software. If you are just a gamer and not very picky about sound/audio then this headset will do the trick. That's better than most gaming headsets on the market. This headset is very comfortable. A++ for comfort. Otherwise, stop looking at gaming headsets. Almost all offer no quality. if you own one of the early G35 headsets. it is not an upgrade. For study, it is better to use headphones with a non-Lightning connector from Apple or other branded headphones. However, they are comfortable enough for long workouts.

Pros
  • Integrated Audio Controls: Includes analog volume control and mic mute switch
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
