Review on Black Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Lens - Model 1380C002 by Stanislaw Bieroza ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value for the money, definitely recommended!

I pair it with the 70-200mm f/2.8L USM on the 7D. I debated between the options of 24-105, 15-85, and 17-40 for a while before settling on 15-85 because of his adaptability. I used the 15-85 for about two months before realizing you had to pay a price for adaptability in a photograph. I'm not saying the 15-85 is a terrible lens; rather, I was dissatisfied with the clarity at 15mm focal length and with an open aperture. If you're unsure about choosing a lens in the area of $25,000, the 24-105 universal, reasonably priced, and trusty "L"-ka is the best option.

Pros
  • The "red ring" and the letter "L" on the lens speak for itself, yet even so: 1) The lenses' build quality. even at f/4 is quite crisp, and f/8 to f/16 is often superb. 2) A wide focus length range. Although there is no "barrel" effect, the image looks good on Fullframe and rather broad on the near end on Crop. Three) Stabilizer. When filming video, it performs admirably and pulls even 1/5. 4) Aperture maintained at f/4 across the whole focal range. 5) An ultrasound motor. It focuses rapidly even on inexpensive versions, like the 600D, and works flawlessly with the 7D. a mostly metal body, but not entirely, a rubber gasket on the mount, a sizable focus ring, and huge overall proportions.
Cons
  • Crop isn't particularly wide.
