Office chair rated #500 - Good, bad and ugly

Let's start with 3 points: 1. I have not received any compensation for this review. I will never accept payment for writing a review. 2. I usually weigh between 390 and 410. Hence the nickname 16 tons. If you weigh less, look for a 400# rated chair or a 300# rated chair. This chair will be quite uncomfortable.3. I am a mechanical engineer by trade with over 30 years of design experience. I regularly create designs of all kinds and evaluate them critically. Let's start with the good: the chair arrived on time. When I unpacked it all the components were in place, well packaged to protect them and appeared to be in good condition. The components proved to be reliable and of good quality. For example, the piece that attaches the backrest to the seat is made from 3/8 inch thick rod, for standard chairs this would be 1/8 inch or 3/16 inch thick rod. The base is metal with 5 welded spokes. The lifting system has higher pressure than usual and works smoothly while I'm sitting in the chair, I only need a little force to lift the chair. The instructions are icon-based and to the point, and take about 60 minutes to complete. It is almost impossible to plug the base into the socket by yourself. I left the chair upside down and inserted the base into the socket, carefully straightened it up and turned the chair over. I would recommend the help of a second person. The chair is stable, the right size/height and doesn't wobble. The Bad: The height adjustment is where people like me get their feet on the base of the chair. Chair can be scratched. The tilting mechanism is fully tightened for transport, so the chair cannot be tilted without loosening it. Spring is very strong. The tilt requires little effort even with minimal tension. The spring is designed for people my weight or more. The depth of the backrest is not adjustable, this can help tilt the chair with force. Poor fit of the lumbar cover and no instructions for it. .Adjustment of the backrest, lumbar support, height and tilt mechanism is not described in the instructions. It is best to have either an instruction manual with pictograms or a written explanation of these functions. I had no beginning for her. Ugly: The packaging, the cardboard box was too thin, when I carried the chair into the house, things started falling out. By placing this box inside another slightly larger box, you greatly increase its durability. I deducted a star for that. It's a miracle it arrived undamaged with all the parts inside. Overall I would buy this chair again despite the packaging, it's a great chair.
