Last year we bought these as school shoes for my son who has to wear a pair of dress shoes once a week for the whole school day. It's not the best choice for this purpose. In just a few weeks these shoes were looking pretty bad with permanent scuffs on the toes and since they aren't real leather there wasn't a good way to fix the scuffs. To be fair, nothing happened to prevent them from functioning as shoes - the bottom didn't come loose or anything. It would be a good choice for a wedding or maybe if worn for an hour once a week in a controlled environment - new out of the box they looked almost exactly like the more expensive pair we got as replacements. If you're looking for school shoes, go for something sturdier.
