After using these headphones for some time and comparing them to other in-ear and in-ear headphones I own and to a set of over-ear headphones, I've come to the conclusion that that this is not the frequency answer I like. They handle the mids and highs very well, and the bass is very clear and punchy, but lacks power. What I mean is that you can hear individual bass notes very clearly, as opposed to a hodgepodge of bass sounds. But the trade-off for this clarity is that it sounds a bit thin. This review is an edit (my first one, written shortly after purchase, wasn't very helpful) so I can't change the stars. Now I'm really not sure how to rate them. If you like a bit of bass feel then you will be disappointed. If you prefer clarity and are willing to sacrifice some bass, this could be the perfect option. So one person can say 1 star, another 5 stars. Subjective. I think I would say 3 stars at this point. To their credit, the mediocre source (128-bit iPhone) sounds pretty good. I have nothing to do with these people and not sure if Revain will let me post this, but this site has a frequency response. Graphics for most headphones. You even have the option to select different headphones and overlay charts for comparison. The E2c diagram shows significantly less bass reproduction. Based on the charts, I ordered several Sennheiser px-100. (Which are not in the duct or insulation). Unfortunately I bought the E2cs from Ace Photo Digital and their return policy is very restrictive (if you open the box you cannot return it). I wish I'd read the fine print because now I don't have a small pile of money. I run. ***************** Added after a week: I received the ordered PX-100 headphones and I have to say that I can't find them. Comparison. In my subjective opinion, the PX-100s are a lot more fun. I'm comparing apples to oranges, of course, because the PX-100 are on-ear headphones, and they don't isolate sound either, but when open they let sound through. If I needed one of these I would go with Shure, but all I need is good sound in something I can walk with.
