While my use case may differ from many others, I have actually mounted it on a weighted bench grinder stand and used it for a variety of grinding needs. Handmade jewelry. I'd recommend getting yourself some non-scratching, magnet-based sponges for this if you intend to use them for similar purposes. The only thing I can seriously complain about is that the anvil's flat surface is textured and not well polished. Eventually I'll try to see if I can grind this down with my diamond whetstones (it's not clear if it can respond to my hand files) as I would get a lot more use out of the anvil part if it were smooth! Would I buy again? Absolutely.
