The construction quality, LED color, and brightness are great. At this price it is a good value. For my application I didn't care so much for the multi color and multi modes so I also don't need the remote control. Ideally I could connect the power supply to an auxiliary switch and turn the LEDs on/off that way. The problem is the control unit doesn't remember the last selection when power is removed. It seems the intention would be to leave the power supply always energized and control the LEDs via the remote. For my motorcycle application I don't want to rely on the remote control, considering if I lost it or it fails. I think I will use a 12VDC wall adapter and use these for under cabinet lighting in the kitchen instead.
