I've read a bunch of negative reviews here from people saying it didn't work for them. I also had trouble getting it to work until I figured out what the problem was. Basically, if the connected hard drive does not appear in the list of drives connected to your computer, the problem is not with the converter but with the fact that your computer does not match the new hard drive. To view it, do the following: 1. First, make sure the BIOS detects and lists it. Just go to Device Manager and expand the list of drives. If bios recognized it, it should be listed there. But just because Bios recognized it doesn't mean Windows has it, and here comes the comparison.2. Go to Disk Manager and see a list of all hard drives. The new hard drive should show up there, but it won't be assigned a letter, just a number and will say that space is unallocated and how much giga space it has. It also appears shaded because its entire area is unformatted or highlighted. In Disk Management (Create and format disk partitions), right-click the new disk and create a new volume for this disk. At the same time, format it and assign it a letter. That's all. Once the HD is formatted, go to File Explorer and you will see your new HD in the HD list. Hope this helps new buyers. I gave it 4 stars because the company that makes this product had to write everything in the manual or somewhere on their website to avoid problems, returns and refunds.
