You MUST have a CD/DVD drive to install
This wireless adapter has no built-in drivers. Therefore, to use it, you need access to some kind of CD/DVD drive. This can be a problem as many modern laptops no longer have optical media. I had to use my portable DVD drive to test this item. Once the driver was installed, the key worked as expected with no real problems when using it. The speed is acceptable on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, depending on the local traffic through your router and its prioritization algorithms. If you're having issues with the built-in Wi-Fi card or it's missing for some reason AND you have access to an optical drive, this is a good option for you to regain Wi-Fi access.
