This gasket is used to seal the upper intake manifold to the lower intake manifold on 3800 Series II engines. It also includes a new throttle body gasket. It has been revised compared to the original seal installed in these engines ex works. The coolant ports that direct coolant to the throttle body now have press-fitted one-piece O-rings. The old version had a molded gasket surrounded by a plastic retainer, meaning hot coolant made contact with the nylon retainer. This can lead to breakage and possible leaks at this point. With this kit, hot coolant never comes into contact with the nylon retainer, greatly reducing the chance of a leak at that point. The kit also includes a throttle body gasket, which is thick and well made and does its job well. This gasket should give you many years of trouble free service provided it is installed correctly.
