The ILD300 offers good value for money compared to other infrared leak detectors. I got it for situations where my heater diode leak detectors gave too many false alarms. Pros: The color screen is a nice touch that you usually only see on top-end devices. I also like the switchable refrigerant modes so you can tune it to the gas you're trying to detect. Lithium-ion batteries are charged with any Android phone charger. The screen will display a warm up countdown, which is a nice feature. Any seasoned technician knows that when you have work to do, the warm-up seems never-ending. At least this one lets you know when it's done. Cons: Can't see the color screen in direct sunlight. There's no reset or zero button, so the only way to reset is to look away from the device and wait for the alarms to stop. The 3.5-inch sweeping motion takes some getting used to. This is a property of all infrared detectors. This could be user error, but I received many false positives until I got the hang of it. Result. Good quality but certainly not cheap. I tested it on a 30 ton AAON with a particularly difficult leak to detect. This was a difficult task for the value detector. I found a leak but it took a while. Be sure to read the instructions. Test it out on a leaky helicopter to see how it reacts before taking it into battle.
