We have used both solar and battery versions of these driveway alarms and are particularly pleased with the company's support. The sensors and receiver units are easy to configure. You can set different tones for each outdoor sensor. Comparing the new Owl battery system to our previous solar system, I would argue that in good sunlight you can't win without changing batteries. We don't have enough time to evaluate battery life, but we chose long-life lithium batteries and hope they last a year depending on the vehicle, people, and animals (bears, bobcats, coyotes, deer, etc.) that use them hold our long mountain road. The range of these alarms has so far been very reliable. I definitely recommend them.
