We've never had 'under the cabinet lighting' before but always thought it would be nice. That's why we ordered these. For one reason, you don't have to screw any holes into the bottom of your cabinets. Instead you use a metal strip and some 3M type sticky tape that holds the metal strip up there. Then you are able to just put the light up and it adheres to the magnet.Each unit is rechargeable with a standard micro usb cable. How long they last is dependent on how much you use them. If you turn them on and leave them on, you should get a few days use out of them before needing to be recharged. I'm kind of guessing here.but it does take a couple of hours, I believe, to recharge one of them.The lights do add a nice ambiance at night without having to use the much brighter overhead lights.I would recommend this product.
