Review on 🤖 iRobot Roomba 981 Robot Vacuum - Wi-Fi Connected Mapping, Alexa Compatible, Perfect for Pet Hair, Carpets & Hard Floors, Power Boost Tech, Black by Jake Solorzano

Let me start this review with two clarifying statements: I received this as part of the Revain Vine program and currently own a Roomba i7 which I absolutely LOVE. Unfortunately, I cannot share that love with this 981. Here's what I think of Roomba's claims for this unit: 1. Strong performance and strong pick-up - definitely 5 out of 5. This vacuum cleaner picks up a lot of dust and dirt from carpets and floors, but there's one caveat here: the trash can is (in my opinion) not so easy to empty.2. It won't stop until the job is done - here 0 out of 5. Check out my first painting and see the story it's never completed a job. When I first used it, it ran for over 8 hours (between charging and emptying the basket). I ended up having to quit the job because she sucked over and over again. Since then every work has been unfinished due to factors like getting stuck on the bath rug (see second picture), it got stuck there and sent me a message that it was about to fall off the cliff. Once I freed him, he could not resume his work. All other works were incomplete when the device simply stopped due to low battery (cannot find base station) or simply refused and stopped (Speaking of error 17).3. Moves in neat rows - 2 of 5 here, looks like it at first, then just starts wandering aimlessly around part of the room here and there, no logic. I have yet to map my floor as promised. And a note on iRobot - yes I have lights on, curtains open, lots of light and very few obstacles in my way (again my love for the i7, this device cannot be compared). PERFECT FOR A HOME WITH PETS - 5 out of 5, does a great job removing pet hair and doesn't tangle, very nice. Knows your life, listens to your voice - here 1 of 5. I've tried starting the device with Alexa and the iRobot app for Alexa, but to no avail. Alexa asks me questions and then either says my robot isn't available or just doesn't say anything. And yes, the device is connected to Wi-Fi.6. Feels and removes dirt - 5 out of 5, yes, as mentioned, does a great job on dirt.7. Picks up where it left off - 0 out of 5, most of the time it can't get back to base to charge and just dies on the ground and after charging it still has to resume and finish (again see pic 1). It's a shame really because this device has so much potential but it's powerful, it can't maneuver over any bathmats like my i7, it just either goes around them or gets stuck in them. He seems to have no brains as there is no logic in what he does or how he does what he does. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not sure, but based on my previous experience with iRobot, this device is wrong, and for the $600 price tag, it should be a lot smarter than it actually is.
