We had to purchase a special mouthguard that doesn't bother my son with a dilator but is small enough that he can speak to her clearly. My son is 9 years old. capa, Revain recommended this case. The case is VERY convenient as he slips the mouthguard in every time he puts it on and then attaches the case to his helmet with the included D-ring on the case. for storage. I would recommend this case as it is large and ventilated enough to allow the mouthguard to dry out and prevent it from getting dirty when not in use. When your kids are tossing their helmets and gear around like mine, you don't want their mouthguard just hanging around when they're attached to the helmet.
