Revainrating 5 out of 5

Looks good, poor software support, coil whine.

When building my third system for 2018 I decided to go with the RBG build (I know it's the original) and thought I'd go with this one as I've used Ballistix before and good ones have had experiences with it. them, and to be honest they haven't let me down. Shipping: Prime held its own again, with 2-day delivery on Saturday and peak times a week after Black Friday. Packaging: I've seen the best packaging for a ram, it was just a plain plastic clamshell which is fine if you buy it from BestBuy etc but not for postage. Just arrived in a small padded envelope. Quality/Performance: Quality felt good, heavy, smooth. Sometimes not so sure. It accelerates fairly decently and stays relatively cool. When replacing LEDs, are there coils for some reason? Cons: The most negative and ironic thing about this RGB ram is the NO RGB SOFTWARE. So far I've found 1 that works and that's the Ballistix one and it's just awful. The user options are "time based". In order to change/create effects you need to set the time each LED blinks and for how long etc. No good "waves" or "rainbows" or any other stuff you can use. I will usually want from RGB Ram. To make matters worse, you MUST open and run the software. It cannot be sent to the notification area like any other normal software, so it must remain in the system tray. And the coil whistle makes it even more annoying, when you set up any kind of flashing or effect you get that variable pitch whistle that makes it sound like a 3D printer. It can be heard from outside the case, and nothing plays even with the headset on. In general, the RAM is a solid 4/5, there are important things there.
