I mainly use this product for panini. After a few months of very light use, I noticed the non-stick coating was peeling off the metal plates. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me that the non-stick coating is fading because I use butter on the bread, per their instructions on page 27 of the owner's manual. The manufacturer replaces the plates but requires that I return the defective ones at my own expense. It is problematic to return defective parts to the manufacturer because the product was used according to the instructions.
