A laptop's lone USB Type-C port can power three external displays, a mouse, trackpad, network adapter, and headphones. Since the full length of a Type C cable is just around a meter, it is usually possible to charge a laptop without having to leave it on a table at work. However, it appears that the laptop will be powered by charging, with the battery being charged from the docking station through Type C, if both native charging and the docking station are connected at the same time. The docking station has a 90-watt charger, whereas my laptop requires 135-watts to charge, thus if you attach just one docking station to it, the battery would discharge under heavy loads and explain the weird behavior. There are also issues with waking the laptop up from sleep mode: the docked keyboard isn't always recognized by the laptop, sometimes the laptop responds but the password entry field opens only when you click the mouse, and sometimes the docking station doesn't wake up the attached monitors until you unplug and replug it into the laptop. Accustom yourself to turning on the laptop using the docking station's power button. Some sort of throttle started whistling with a fully charged battery in the third week. To sum up, you should only use it if your laptop does not have enough ports or if you need to take it with you outside of the office. Given the low output, a better investment may be a good port replicator that is still less expensive than this docking station.
