In general, its pretty good, an equal number of pros and cons.

On the official Lenovo forum, users have consistently reported these issues for the previous two years. Changing the docking station's firmware, UEFI, or drivers does not resolve the problem.

Pros
  • A lot of connectors, first. Gigabit Ethernet Port No. 2. 3) Small. 4) The button on the docking station can be used to directly turn on the laptop.
Cons
  • 1) There is an annoying intermittent squeak from the speakers when the 3.5 "jack is plugged in and the laptop is switched off. This sound goes away as soon as the laptop is turned on. 2) The docking station warms up like a frying pan, even with just one FullHD 60hz monitor connected. 3) The linked monitor begins to intermittently shut off for a brief period of time after a few hours of use. A gray (red, purple, magenta, etc.) background will occasionally keep the display from turning on at all, and the only way to fix this is to unplug the thunderbolt cable, not the monitor. All other peripherals continue to function properly at the same time. All of this, in my opinion, is a result of item 2. I was forced to forego using the docking station and instead put the screen straight into the laptop using HDMI.

Overall it's good but I expect more, there are some downsides.

If it weren't for the "bug" that exists with the connection of 2K monitors, everything would be lovely and convenient. PS. I will acknowledge that when two external FullHD screens with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 are connected, everything functions normally. A valuable purchase, some advantages!

I utilize a Gen7 Lenovo x1 Carbon. I purchased extra so that I wouldn't have to re-plug a number of wires every time I arrived at work; everything is in order there. The dock's compatibility with Linux is a hot topic on the Internet, but it appears that the officials have a new batch of docks with the newest software. One more thing: don't expect to run the firmware on an outdated PC; if type-C with Thunderbolt isn't present (which I'm sure it isn't), you won't be able to see half of the dock's

Pros
  • Power, network, and HDMI all surprisingly came to life on Ubuntu-18.04. Since there is a video signal at all, it appears that everything will be alright. I can't examine DP just now.
Cons
  • When the docking station is activated, it "intercepts" the audio circuit, forcing Ubuntu to use a speaker and microphone that are not docked. You must constantly check.

Good product, I recommend that you try it.

In general, I had a good time visiting the station and thought it was quite neat. Without it, there were too many cords cluttering the area surrounding the laptop for me to feel comfortable lying on the sofa with it. And earlier there were six wires from the laptop and five extra pieces, now there are just three (it might have gone one - I stated why in the drawbacks). It's starting to come together now. This gadget is awesome and well worth the cost. It's perfect if your screen refreshes at 60

Pros
  • Plenty of ports, including one for a network cable; I made do with a USB adaptor in the past because WiFi was unreliable. It's helpful that the Windows power button can be programmed to put the laptop into hibernation, so you may press it without picking up the device. Minimal in size; takes up little room
Cons
  • I had anticipated that the docking station's 90W output would be sufficient to power my laptop and all its accessories (the laptop itself consumes 65W), but alas, it was not. Without its own power block connected to the laptop, it becomes extremely unresponsive (perc does not go over 1GHz, although it functions at frequencies of 3.2-3.6GHz while using its power supply). - 😥 Unfortunately, both DisplayPort and HDMI only output up to 60 frames per second, so I had to connect my monitor (the MSI on the left) straight to my laptop via HDMI (which only transmits up to 120 frames per second, so it still doesn't make full use of the 165 Hz panel). - 😤 The sonise in particular gets really hot (as it rests on the table), so I'm debating whether or not to prop it up on anything to prevent the bottom from fitting too snugly and overheating.

It works, but I don't think I'll be buying it again.

A laptop's lone USB Type-C port can power three external displays, a mouse, trackpad, network adapter, and headphones. Since the full length of a Type C cable is just around a meter, it is usually possible to charge a laptop without having to leave it on a table at work.
