At a time when all new MacBooks require adapters and hubs, this little guy stands out. It's very light and compact and allows me to connect two USB2 or USB3 devices while still being able to charge my laptop using only (1) of the four available USB-C ports. I've connected USB hard drives to it by connecting power to an available USB-C port. My laptop charges reliably and the drives load with no issues. I tested transferring large files from my MacBook Pro to both connected USB hard drives. The travel dock does get warm, but that's to be expected since I use it to charge my laptop. I didn't feel like it was too hot to touch or threatened to overheat. I don't use SD cards so couldn't test this, but I also connected HDMI to power a 55" Samsung 1080p monitor and everything worked as expected. It easily charges my iPhone 6s Plus but not my iPad Air, although personally I wouldn't use it for that... I would recommend this travel dock as a lightweight alternative to using multiple adapters.
