Review on All-Natural Garden Blend: Beloved by Birds by Jennifer Phillips

Our 30 year old gray parrot loves this food. To say she's a picky eater is an understatement. During the pandemic this mix was sometimes hard to come by due to price and availability so we bought a few different "basic" food brands/mixes, Frankie hated them and ended up throwing them away. Our girl is a bit spoiled, her commercial food is her "always food in the bowl" but she gets 4 slices of homemade bird bread everyday (a recipe I developed over years making other foods). -packaged bird bread mixes and researching the best organic ingredients that would really complement their diet). I make a large batch every 8 weeks (it bakes on a standard rimmed baking sheet, then cut into 1x1 inch cubes and freezes in our freezer to keep fresh). It has 25 ingredients and I use Harrison's "beautiful" high potency granules as the main base. We quickly freeze fresh leafy greens from our summer garden on a baking sheet, then pack them in a grocery bag and add 2 cups of frozen veggies — if fresh out of season — ground into bread in a food processor. She's never been a fan of "fresh" food. We've tried everything in 30 years, but apart from fresh zucchini, broccoli and strawberries from the garden and a few blueberries, she picks at everything else. She really loves this mix and will sift it to the bottom of the bowl, picking out her favorite things and tossing in most of the dried fruit. It's pricey but worth it for our picky silver girl.
