These bulbs always turn on DARK, you have to physically press the button each time to turn on the light, it doesn't remember the previous setting as there is no 'hard' switch. So if you plug it into an outlet controlled by a wall switch, you won't get instant light when you flick the wall switch. See? These lamps must be used on a table or work area where additional lighting is OPTIONAL. I was hoping to use an EXTRA bright light in the bedroom when reading, however 3 modes: 1) very low 2) low 3) normal 60W (LED played no part there). I leave the lamps, I really like the way they look and I have other places to put them, but be careful if you think you're about to enter the room, flip the switch on the wall and they will shine. Oh well.
