I have tried other types of cleaners. Drops in pills work best, but storing a pill in a rarely used toilet seems like a waste of money. The cleaner you either put in the bowl or put on the bowl does nothing to keep the underside of the rim clean. This Kaboom system is the best of all worlds. Because the Kaboom tablets are aligned with the water flow, only the flow tube is exposed to the chemical, and the chemical exits through each flush channel, meaning most of the rim stays clean. Kaboom tablets last 3 months or more but are expensive. but they are worth it.
