When our electric hob broke due to a bowl being dropped I replaced it with a gas hob. A few questions: 1. The dimensions of the gas range blocked the hole in the countertop but was slightly shorter in width and length than the old electric range. I had to add a wooden frame to the bottom to keep the hob centered and prevent it from falling out if moved too far to the side. Cast iron grids are placed high, reducing the distance from the top of the pot on the stovetop to the microwave and exhaust fan at the top. Check the minimum dimensions of your microwave oven and exhaust fan to ensure you have enough free space. We had 18 inches, barely enough. 3. The burners come in different sizes: one small and one large at the front, two medium sizes at the rear, and the largest burner in the middle. I'd rather have 2 medium burners than the front as that's what we use most. 4. The control knobs are on the front, which puts the burners further away from a standing person. I would have liked the control knobs on the side so the burners are closer to the front. 5. Control buttons are small and round. To light, you must press down, hold and twist until the igniter ignites the flame and there is enough heat to burn. I would prefer big handles. 6. If the handle is held too short After some time or somehow the flame goes out, the gas shuts off 7. When delivered the hob is set for natural gas which has natural gas and propane gas settings Unscrew the spring cap and turn the Spring cap over so the N is at the bottom and the P is at the top. It takes a bit of knowledge and skill to make sure it's done right.8. Throttle control is out of range. The flame tends to be high on even the smallest burner at the lowest setting. Some sauces need constant stirring to keep them from burning and sticking to the bottom of the pan. The hob is made in China, not Italy. With all this, the gas hob is high-quality and reliable. When you clean your hob, there are many parts that need to be removed. Be careful not to drop the cast iron grates as they may break.
