Review on GE 12751 Wireless Motion Sensing Transmitter by Sean Maples

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Poor design, poor workmanship

Although I like the concept of this device, in practice it leaves a lot to be desired. The first thing I noticed is the 10 minute timer. It cannot be diversified. You must also actively move back into range of the sensor after the time has expired. You would expect any movement to reset that ten-minute period, but that's not the case. When the device detects movement, it turns on for ten minutes. If after ten minutes there is no movement visible at that moment, the device switches itself off, even if there was movement a minute before! This means you'll be waving at him frequently to restart the light. This is very annoying when you use it as a work light. The second issue has to do with build quality. When I decided to return it, when I tried to unplug it, the grounding portion of the plug broke off in the outlet. It looks like it was screwed in and the threads just snapped off. I had to use a pinpoint to pull the grounding plug out of the outlet. Pros: - Convenient remote control sensor. Cons: - Shuts down every ten minutes and needs to be restarted. Check out the other GE remote sensor/port - it's much better finished and doesn't require the device to be restarted every 10 minutes (ie if motion is detected at any point within ten minutes the ten minute clock restarted).

Pros
  • The lights turn on automatically when motion is detected and turn off after 10 minutes of no motion.
Cons
  • Out of fashion
