Use correct VGA to HDMI adapter
Not all VGA to HDMI adapters are created equal (or bi-directional). I had the wrong one on hand, so this recording device didn't work at first. If you encounter such a problem, just understand that if your device supports HDMI-VGA, then your device is designed to work with a VGA target display, not HDMI - the reverse orientation will not work. Anyway, my goal is to capture POST screens during boot on servers with VGA ports. I now have the correct VGA to HDMI adapter.
