What I received looks exactly like the first photo. The yarn frays a little bit, but as a beginner it is totally fine for my little beginner projects. I think in the future I will look for more ergonomic hooks, but nothing has broken or anything like that. Photo is a little halloween project I made with stuff only from this kit (except for stuffing). I think this would be a great gift for someone that is just starting out.

I thought I was getting whole skeins of yarn, bot little mini size skeins of yarn. I was able to use none the less, but I was not able to make what I had intended to make and this purchase has put me behind schedule of what I have wanted and needed to make by the end of the year. The kit came with all the basic crochet hook sizes needed to get started as well as lots of other things that beginners like myself wouldn’t have even known to get like stitch markers, measuring tape, etc. The yarn skeins are very small but that’s because you’re getting a whole kit with like 60 colors and good crochet hooks for very cheap. This starter set is as shown in the photos. However, the yarn quality is poor and with so many colors, each ball of yarn is not enough to make anything in completion. I would not recommend. Just buy crochet hooks and yarn separately.

Yes the yarn is all small little balls which I would have no issue with however the yarn itself is extremely rough feeling and very wispy? If that makes sense. Very difficult to crochet with especially as a learner. However the set was nice. The crochet hooks are great the stitch markers and everything else it came with is great. I suggest purchasing this along with some better quality yarn. But for the price this set is good im just not the biggest fan of the yarn.

Overall, the kit was great; it has everything a beginner needs. But I've broken two hooks in three weeks. I've been crocheting for years and have never broken a hook. I was disappointed in this product. The yarn was plentiful but the skeins were to small to do much with and the bag was to small to use for much else.Might be nice gift for someone just beginning to crochet.
