The vise itself works fine. Soft lips are comfortable and do not scratch. It has a light, full rotation. But the base is not sealed. General. It's not that the seal is weak, it just doesn't seal at all. I use it on glass, freshly cleaned and I've tried using water and oil to seal but no cubes. I found a way to use a small wooden clip to attach it where I need it, but if that's not an option for you and you absolutely need to attach it to a smooth surface, I'd look elsewhere.
