My Honda TRX500FA has been doing 6,000 miles and is becoming increasingly unreliable and the fuel consumption is about half what it should be. I am considering buying a new ATV. Before I did that, I decided to replace the carburetor. The cost of a complete carburetor with heater and throttle position sensor was much less than the parts cost of rebuilding an old carburetor. It was claimed to be an exact replacement for the original build. The exchange took me about 2 hours. Fuel economy is restored and it works like new. Only the idle was lowered a bit. The cost of this carb saved me the cost of a new ATV. I am very satisfied and I recommend it to anyone who has similar problems.
