Perfect, cheap and so far very reliable

So far so good. Perfect part, no hum [Are you sure you connect your turntable's ground wire to the small thumbscrew on this preamp, or even just your amp's chassis? Ignoring this step guarantees a hum] but I'll update this review if that changes. I have another Pyle mini preamp in black that's a few bucks cheaper and has an RCA on each end instead of the rear that connects to a setup in my office at work and I use it daily and it's been perfect and reliable, so I hope the same for this one. The ground thumbscrew on black was difficult to connect from the platter to the bare ground as the screw couldn't cut into the wire so I had to add a small connector to the end to make a good connection or the bare wire would slip out of the thumbscrew, if you try this method. This silver thumbscrew was insanely tight and I needed pliers just to loosen it and it also has a smooth screw and finish so nothing can dig into the wire but this turntable had the end already crimped onto the ground wire to allow the thumbscrew keeps it safe. I would buy it again and with as many players as I have I probably will.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
