Okay I didn't realize SSR probably wasn't for my purposes but this item works as advertised. Even at 1/4 the declared power, it probably won't be able to handle sustained loads. It says 40A, but even with a load of 6A for 1 hour it heats up significantly. I'll try to add a heatsink (arrived today) but I suspect solid state relays aren't rated for sustained loads. For controlling dual exhaust turbines, each drawing about 1200 watts and 70% on, these relays are not suitable for this purpose. For my purposes I need to find an alternative electromechanical relay. Also, please do not try to test this relay with a normal table lamp. You will see a blinking and turning off. When it is off, a small voltage leaks out, and the ordinary light bulb acts like a capacitor, and this loss of voltage turns into much larger fluctuations, causing the light bulb to flicker every 2-3 seconds. I read online that most SS relays like this have this, so nothing wrong with this particular case.
