Review on πŸ”§ Improved Advance Curve Kit by Mr. Gasket 925B by Nick Moody

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works as described.

I installed one of these (according to the manual that came with it and the wisdom of the internet forums) on an electronic distributor I have on a Slant Six engine. They've definitely done what they're supposed to be doing, which is a mechanical advancement in the rev range that you can actually use. The stock 1brl slant-six carburetor should probably upshift at 4000rpm and with my original springs I didn't see any mechanical progress on the timer until 3000+. Or maybe not right now. Now it starts pretty close to idle and everything goes to 3000. It comes with two springs, one of which I have yet to install on my 1980 T&C logging truck. If someone took your distributor out of your engine and pulled everything out, unplugged the connector wires from it and turned the engine to a random position and gave you parts to assemble and it scares you, it's a bit tricky because you're taking out the trigger wheel and the base of the Removing the sensor from the distributor makes it quite difficult to get to the mechanical feed at the bottom and you can definitely destroy your distributor if you are not careful. If you're a patient, cautious, mechanically inclined person who isn't afraid of the distributor, then yes, get this. However, it determines the $/oz ratio of the product. Considering the insane amount of 100,200,300 beat sets I'm constantly buying from Revain for less than $10, it seems odd paying so much for two tiny parts that now together weigh less than the air in your lungs weigh, but it's still not a lot of money if you don't pay someone else to install it! I would take almost $200 to put it on for someone else!

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion
