In short, I needed a KVM switch to eliminate the clutter in my house between my home computer and my work laptop, which required two workstations. I looked at MANY models on multiple websites and finally settled on this one based on the positive reviews and overall rating. I'm very glad I did. The switch essentially takes a USB and HDMI cable to connect each of the two computers to the set-top box, and then uses an HDMI cable to connect both computers to a single monitor. There are three USB ports on the front of the device, which I use for my mouse, keyboard, and webcam. That's all. A very simple device. The device worked out of the box after everything was connected and installed. I use a VGA HDMI dongle on a laptop and it works fine too. While there is a slight delay when switching between the two computers, it's only a few seconds and when I connect to the same computer I hardly notice it. Delay function for each device. I couldn't be happier as I now only have one place to work and free up my dining table for normal use. I highly recommend this product, it has worked flawlessly for me.
