Buyers beware of false lamp life claims

This projector is mostly quiet and looks good, but don't believe the 15,000 hour lamp life claim like I do. A year and 1 month after purchase, the lamp was defective. And guess what. The manufacturer gives a 90-day guarantee on the lamp. I did a little math and if it had run a full year it would still be less than 9000 hours. So they might as well say it lasts a gigillion hours if they don't have to back it up with a warranty. Knowing that incandescent bulbs are the weak point of projectors, I thought ahead and bought a 3 year extended warranty through Asurion. short story. Don't waste your money on it. Long Story After bouncing through hoops for them for about 5 hours, my perseverance paid off and they emailed me a label to send my projector in for repair. After a week and 3 days I received my projector back in a clean condition with the note "customer must replace the light bulb". Guess what. They don't cover lightbulbs. Is not that great. Learn from my mistake. Be aware that despite good image quality, you are buying from a company that doesn't live up to their grandiose claims. Do yourself a favor and don't spend more than $50 on a 3 year cleaning contract that will cost you years of your life trying to honor your warranty. In my opinion Optoma and Asurion both suck and are constantly losing customers and getting bad publicity.
