I bought this kit to measure the crankshaft, camshaft and pistons whilst rebuilding my jeep engine with the block installed. This saves me having to pull out the block and carry everything to the machine shop. This was the second "partial" repair I've ever done on different vehicles. I'm no pro, but I wanted to check my tolerances myself without removing said components from the engine. If I had any doubts about the compatibility, I would take the part to the workshop. I did not have to. This kit gave me the confidence to keep those parts in the engine. I measured the same spot multiple times and got the same number, so I trusted them. It comes with lengths of "gauge bars" to check every micron. I needed a large tool to measure the 3.75" piston and smaller tools to measure the camshaft so the kit was great. I'm not rating it five stars because I know there are certain activities where people want "absolute perfection". in a micrometer instrument. If so, then you probably want sets that cost three times as much, and that's not for you. But I don't need it and have now used it to rebuild my 30-year-old outboard motor.
