Review on Custom LeatherCraft 1528 Electrical Maintenance by Robert Arneson

From the best bag to the worst bag - what were you thinking?

I first bought this bag in June 2008, it looked exactly like the picture. If I had reviewed it again it would have been 5 stars. I used it almost daily for 4 years as a mechanic for a local utility company. After I retired I still used it at home almost every week if not more. After using it extensively to help my sister in her new home I thought it would be nice to buy it for her husband. So I bought the exact same bag for him. When it arrived I was very disappointed to find that they had removed the hidden plastic parts box and replaced it with another plastic box which is now on the outside at the very bottom of the side of the bag (a waste of tool space). Refunded and chose the 10" x 11" bag with the zipped bag pictured which contained a box with plastic pieces at the bottom of the bag. Not correct! They also redesigned this bag and there is a large plastic box pocket on one side of this bag. Revain still shows the parts boxes in the tool bag, but this view is misleading. So the 8" x 8" bag gets 1 star because that's the least you can give it, same goes for the 10" x 11" bag with its misleading pictures. It looks like the CLC is trying to reinvent the wheel, although it doesn't have to be. "There's no reason for that, it's just company policy." I wouldn't recommend this bag to anyone. There's also a DeWalt bag that looks the same as the 10" x 11" CLC bag. Keep in mind that it could also be a CLC clone.

Pros
  • Hard wearing finish
Cons
  • Other interesting options are available.
