Review on Marineland White Diamond 50 oz - High-Efficiency Ammonia Remover for Aquarium Filters by April Irvin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I solved my ammonia problem by giving the tank time to cycle.

. The nitrogen cycle was constantly stopped and restarted due to high ammonia levels. I use Seachem Stability, Prime, Ammonia Guard and various API products that are similar to Seachem products. I had to change partial water several times a day to lower the ammonia levels. And by reduction I mean less than 8ppm, which is WAY too much (I know). My free ammonia was "safe" but my total ammonia was consistently off the charts. (I understand that cycling with fish is frowned upon, but I didn't have much of a choice.) I finally gave up and decided to give it a try despite reading so many things against it. I wish I had addressed this sooner! I put it in a bag right in the tank to make it easier for me to change it (I have a canister filter so it's a bit difficult to get into the filter). I only used enough to bring the total ammonia down to about 2ppm because I wanted to make sure there was enough left for the bacteria to "eat". After about 2 weeks, the ammonia content dropped to 0 ppm! I took out half the zeolite, waited a day and checked again. Still 0ppm. All zeolite has been removed and the ammonia level is still 0 ppm. It's been over a month now and the ammonia is still falling without the zeolite. I think it helped bring the ammonia levels down to safe levels and allowed the bacteria to grow. I highly recommend it, even if the aquarium professionals might not approve.

Pros
  • . Great for me.
Cons
  • . Everything is great.
