If you're into the whole Brevity Thing: This Lighted Magnifier delivers Mag power, light and stability. A great value for the price! Here's the lowdown:Working at my home office requires some catalog reading that my corrected vision still could not achieve. Every now and then I just have to check the book. So I ordered this baby for that and of course the dozens of daily tasks requiring Super Eyes.This came in the box very well protected and packed with each component wrapped in bubbles or plastic and ensconced in firm foam. As the main components, particularly the base, are pretty heavy, it's braced well in the box to protect that lens.The unit assembled very easily. It comes with a surface base and a clamp-on base. The surface base has some good heft to it as well as being pretty wide, so it counterbalances the magnifier head and the gooseneck well. If you want a completely firm non-shifting experience, I think the sturdy mostly steel clamp base would do nicely.Having said that, I tested the base frequently moving the gooseneck up and down, and did not have to wrestle or "two-hand" it much at all. The magnification is 3X which is more than adequate for plucking splinters, screwing tiny screws etc. The lighting modes allow for various color temperatures, which aside from color matching, is subjective.My intended task, positioning the light over a catalog page, is accomplished, although the field of view is too narrow for full page reading. An oblong rectangular lens would be ideal for that.All in all, this is a well made product, with separate buttons for dimming and brightening, selecting color temperature and power. It does exactly what it is supposed to do with a little style and good lighting technology. A great value!
