Review on Pretec 56k CF Modem for PDA/ Pocket PC & portable devices with CF slot by Matthew Henderson

Excellent no frills modem

If you already know how to set up a dial-up connection on your Windows 9x computer, then this modem will not allow you to access the Internet from your PDA to go. Glob; They are ready to use within 5-10 minutes after taking it out of the box. I originally bought this modem to use with my Cassiopeia E-105, I have used it many times with my friend's Cassiopeia E-115 and now I use it regularly with my Cassiopeia E-125. Despite some other customer reviews on this product, please note: THIS MODEM WORKS PERFECTLY ON THE CASSIOPEIA E-105, E-115 AND E-125. If you have one of the above devices and cannot get that modem to work, something is wrong: either you received a defective modem or PDA, or your PDA has a program installed that is preventing the modem from working properly. but I didn't need this modem. The modem itself is not difficult, just plug it in. The difficulty lies in remote access to the PocketPC network, and if you already know how to do this on your Windows 9x system, then it is not difficult. Hot-swappable, meaning you don't need to do anything special before each use. Simply open the compact flash port on your device, remove any other device or card you have connected to the port (if any), plug this modem into the port, connect to your ISP and click Connect. You don't even have to turn the device off and on again or anything like that.

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
