I recently took my 9 lb cat across the country in this carrier. I've worn it all through the airport with straps on my chest (quite a lot of "Oh, Kitty!"). When I was ready to fly, I carefully turned the stretcher upside down using the straps. She had plenty of space. She's not a big cat, and that was fine. It fits both first class (1st photo) and bus seats (2nd photo). I flew to United. She could see me through the top and vice versa, which was nice. While waiting at the airport I was able to leave it open to pet/feed it. I made a sleeve out of an old workout shirt but hardly used it.
