Review on πŸ“ General Tools 806 Jiffy Center Finder by Mike Malvo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great price but you have to invest in auto punch

Center punch doesn't seem to hit the center. It has a little play so it can be off center at times. But close enough for rock and roll! Otherwise I wasn't expecting ultra high precision from a cheap tool, so for the price it works well. However, I will invest in an "Auto Punch" that you don't have to hit with a hammer. Trying to hold the loop and that punch and then hitting it with a hammer is a little tricky, and if you're in an awkward position things can easily move. A punching machine would make it much easier to fix the hinge when punching a hole. UPDATE: I increased my rating by one star because I realized the hole wasn't perfectly centered because you need to make sure the tool is held perfectly perpendicular to the hinge - a slight angle will cause the tip to come out of the Middle protrudes - I admit it, operator error! :) I checked the tool and the midpoint is centered so I wanted to make sure I wasn't unfairly judging this tool, it's pretty solid. However, I stand by my original claim that if you're trying to hold a sling, tool, and hammer, you might want to invest in an auto-hit style or develop a third hand. But for the price, it's great if you don't use such a tool regularly. The Autopunch variety is closer to $40.
