Open the center console cover and remove the 4 torx screws. Gently pull the sides, then the middle, and then the top. There are plastic tabs connected to the other half of the black plastic that break easily. I broke 3 or 4 of the 10 or 12 that are out there. I used needle nose pliers to remove the broken tabs still stuck in the opposite half. Remove the 2 Phillips screws securing the old latch. Install a new one and put everything back in place. Lasts a maximum of 510 minutes. No instructions were provided but it seemed like it needed to be removed and replaced. I just bought a 2012 GMC and the latch was already broken.
