Review on 🌡️ Fieldpiece ST4 Dual Temperature Meter: Accurate -58 to 2000F (-50 to 1300C) Readings by Quinton Wonsley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Only 400 degree Fahrenheit thermocouple included.

This is just a first unboxing review, I haven't put it through rigorous testing yet. First impressions. the device makes a solid impression. The instructions for use are molded in a plastic case and in a rubber (size?) outer protective cover. First test with "room temp" and both sensors, the meter set to T1-T2 shows an accuracy of 0.5°F. (As I said, not a strenuous test.) However, I have found that the supplied K-type sensors Thermocouples do not operate at high temperatures and are limited to continuous operation up to 400F. The problem isn't with the thermocouple itself, it's with the insulation around the wires. You can order ATBF1 high temperature thermocouples if you need higher temperature readings. I suspect not everyone needs them, but I bought them to be able to quickly check soldering tip temp and to double check a couple of inexpensive tip temp probes I have. So until the ATBF1 thermocouples arrive I'll just play around with them. Like other comments. I would like backlight and auto power off. A battery level indicator on the display would also be helpful.

Pros
  • Min/Max and Hold
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
