The bar can get stuck while cooking

So the box was cute and it's cute too, there was a pretty decent waffle, the main issue is the bar got stuck and I almost burned my waffle when I tried to open it. what is the vapor pressure behind it, the whole time i was curious as to why they snap in the first place? Plus its a few scratches on mine, sad since I bought this because it was cute.
