Review on ๐Ÿ’พ Inateck USB 3.0 IDE SATA External Hard Drive Reader for Universal 2.5/3.5 HDD/SSD, IDE to USB Adapter with 12V/2A Power Supply & USB 3.0 Cable - UA2001 by Cristina Franklin

Fast and reliable. Stop procrastinating and buy this!

I used to have IDE and SATA to USB hard drive converters. My last one worked with USB 2.0 and was only moderately reliable. It worked pretty well for about forty-five minutes, and then it started throwing errors. I turned it off for twenty minutes and it worked fine again. I suspect that there were problems with the heating. It was also slower than death; Copying an old 80GB hard drive (yes, that's like a big flash drive these days) took almost two hours and two cooling cycles. I have to say that based on my previous experience I was a little nervous about purchasing the Inatek Universal USB 3.0 model. When I got home, I plugged in a 10-year-old IDE drive and connected to my file server. This old drive was almost 4GB and the adapter copied it in less than three minutes - pretty fast for an old drive. The device stayed as cool as possible, and a subsequent comparison showed that the copy was flawless. I am very impressed with the Inateck USB 3.0 Universal IDE/SATA Hard Drive Adapter. Some people claim to have found the same model for less than $2, but I suspect it might be a fake clone.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Too long to wait
