The Scanmarker Air Pen is a nice addition to my writing tool box. The software is easy to install and the pen is very easy to use. The pen itself is very light and works great on flat pages - meaning you'll need to flatten the middle of the book a bit to get a good scan. This is a bit counter-intuitive - as others have pointed out, to get a good scan you'll need to swipe the page faster than you might expect. It captures one line of text at a time and the computer tells you if you're "out of bounds" or too slow to rescan. This pen is used with your computer, tablet or smartphone to capture your scans - it is not a separate device that stores your scans. This is good because you can immediately see what you've scanned on the screen and make corrections on the fly. PROS: Easy to install, easy to use, reasonable price for its features. Captures text with 95-100% accuracy. CONS: Does not accept double letters --- e.g. E.g. "letters" will be displayed as "letters". If you underline or highlight your original source, the pen can't scan the text—it renders as meaningless letters. A wired connection works better than a Bluetooth connection. All in all, this is a good option, especially for those of us who don't use Braille!
