Review on ๐ŸŒ Highly Functional iGPSPORT iGS50E GPS Bike Computer with ANT+ & Waterproof Design - Big Screen & Wireless Connectivity by Johnny Snyder

Great bike computer for under $100!

I've been using it for over 1 year and have driven about 2000 miles. I've used it on both road bikes and mountain bikes. I think this is probably the best bike computer for under $100. Advantages 1. Battery life far exceeds 20 hours. There's nothing like a 5 hour bike ride and finding that the battery is almost fully charged. Bravo! I accidentally left the unit on overnight and the next day it was still able to log 4+ hours of driving with only 1 bar graph from the computer. 2. The IGPSPORT app has been greatly improved. On first use, the miles on the IGPSport50e were changed to kilometers in the app. In the original app I tried changing it to Miles and ended up switching to Japanese and since the entire app was in Japanese I couldn't figure out how to change it back. So I had to delete it with all information about the trip. Now just go to the settings in the app and change the metric system to imperial. 3. The memory of the trip is fantastic. When the above old app crashed, I couldn't upload my rides for months. When I received the updated application, the computer downloaded more than 20 rides. 4. I don't use the auto backlight often, but I have it in the dark and it's easy to see without being intrusive. 5. Durability has been fantastic for me: I've ridden over 600 miles on a mountain bike, including a bad rollover and landing 5ft upside down on a boulder. It's been 2 months and I'm still in pain and the IGPSport 50e is still working. 6. The display of trips in the application is excellent. Minor cons 1. The % estimation is a bit slow, typically about 1 second behind what actually happens. 2. Transferring rides in the app is slow. It takes a few minutes to go seventy miles, but the graph shows how quickly it charges. 3. Some input is required for the app to load your rides. On my iPad, the home screen shows an image of a 50e computer and shows if it's connected. (After the ride, you need to turn it off to save the ride) If it is not connected, you need to turn it on. Sometimes I have to turn the app off and on again to see the 50e. Then click on the orange stripe with image 50e. This will open the next screen and the top line "Download". Click Download. A third screen will open and it will say 'Download' in the top right corner, click 'Download' here and your trip or trips will be uploaded. When you're done loading, go back 2 screens and all your rides are in place. Click on one and it will open with a map of your trip. You can easily expand your travel map to full screen. 4. The app loves to break up your ride into laps where there weren't any, but all the totals are there. 5. Since the GPS sensor is a bit slow, if you look closely at your advanced map when you've been on a winding path, you'll see that it's taking shortcuts in the curves, which I think is very minor. Summary. Great bike computer for <$100. Downsides to the GPS sensor and slow loading include minor complaints. I'm already looking at a newer version that shows the map on the computer, but I'm in no rush because this one works fine.
