I flip houses. This is number 4 this year. The previous owners literally took a cheap 4 inch paintbrush and slapped some old semi-gloss house paint onto the kitchen cabinets. They looked cheap and they didn't even bother to paint half of the backs and worst of all they painted over everything. Gear. I have used many cabinet finishing products over the years to avoid the expense of replacing cabinet fronts which can be a lot more expensive than advertised. The original base of these cabinets appears to have been beech. nice grain and if I'm going to bother cleaning up some of the previous guys crappy work I'd rather keep the wood, sand it down and restore it. But I've already fitted a new backsplash to match the dark gray granite countertops. .So I wanted to stick with the original white color for the cabinets as all the new appliances were stainless steel which I hate but that's another story. If you're selling like me they need stainless steel Need contrast to the colors I have. m in the kitchen, especially with the dark granite countertops that I inherited. I first bought the Nuvo Kit in titanium plus white. Save money and buy paint by the gallon. The DVD is useless if you can draw. The brush was of poor quality and the foam roller is useless as it just leaves bubbles in your project and ruins the finish. The included sanding pad was thrown in the trash within a second of opening the box with the kit. As with any other project, ALL depends on your preparation. The quality of this paint is very high. However, the end result will only be visible if you do the right prep work. Forget their promise to just paint over and go. I did this on a piece of molding at the top of the cabinets to see the finish. All traces of the awful first coat of paint were translucent. At this point I was very discouraged with this product but realized I was not following my usual protocol. It's all in preparation. So came the stripper and I sanded down all the cabinets, frames and trim down to the original wood. It was then that I discovered a beautiful beech wood with a really nice texture. Too late, doesn't go with the new apron. So, after cleaning and sanding back to the original, I applied the first coat of Nuvo. It's not a thick paint. Not skinny like Valspar, but not fat like Ber. Just a good liquid paint. You must apply AT LEAST two coats of this paint. It's not a large kitchen but I have an island bar so I had to order a third quart to keep the color matching theme. First work with a brush on the finish. This paint dries quickly, but not too quickly, so don't overdo it. Above all, invest in the best roller and brush you can find. I used a 6 inch cloth roller and a better quality Wooster angle brush from Home Depot. It's worth the extra $5 investment. The second layer of my project lays down like glass. No brush marks, full coverage and after inspection Two hours after the paint had dried I was very impressed. I'm still working on the lower cabinets since my grinder decided to die on me. But the top row of cabinets is ready. Two weeks passed. I live in Florida and it's summer and very humid. Because of this, I kept the Air at 73 throughout this project. Now, after testing the cleanability of the cabinets two weeks into the curing and drying time, I've been amazed at how easy they are to clean. Just like the expensive cabins we pay thousands for. Good product, easy to work with, easy to clean, good finish just don't overdo it. The most important thing with this paint is to do some prep and use the best rollers and brushes you can find. Do not clean large areas of closets. Only use the brush to remove stains. role does not work. A roller is the best way to use this product for a perfect finish. I also used a titanium finish in white semi-gloss. It's a true semi-matte finish. White has a dull gray-blue tint, which is normal for white. I noticed that it was a cooler white than my ceiling base, which was finished in semi-gloss, unpainted, ultra-white Behr. But in natural and evening light, it's very hard to notice if you're not looking. This was a plus for me as it captured the natural light of the granite peaks and made everything come together perfectly. I would definitely use this product again for my next litter when confronted with the closet mess I made in this house. Great product, slightly more expensive than your regular house paint but passed the test of light brushing and provided a nice quality finish.
