Preparation is important, the results are great. It takes more product than you think.
The powder coating on my aluminum rods was chipping and peeling, so I removed the old powder coating with sandpaper and acetone. I cleaned the aluminum again with acetone and then used a self-etch primer to prepare. I applied three coats and ended up using three cans of aerosol liner to complete the project. The results are great but I was surprised it took so long.
