The remote works fine not because of the poor shipping packaging and no instructions to pair with the Direct TV HD24-200 box. I almost wanted to return it until I discovered that the unit MUST be set to IR mode and you have to enter a code on the remote to use it. First, turn on your TV and DTV box. Then simultaneously press the mute button and the select button (using a 4-way selector switch at the top of the remote on the left side of the DTV) on the remote control. It flashes blue twice. Then use the numeric keypad to enter 00001, it will flash blue twice again. Check if the TV should turn off by pressing the PWR button. If it doesn't, repeat the process, this time just typing 00002 on the numeric keypad. Check it again with the PWR button. If it works, you're done. If this is not the case, you will need to contact Direct TV Customer Service so that they can help you solve the problem. Hope that helps.
